Abed is avoiding [spoilers from his] favorite book series, which just happens to resemble Game of Thrones. So he decides to walk around Greendale wearing air traffic controller headphones so he can’t hear anything. And since my character is deaf, we [hit] it off right away and get along really well. There’s a bit of a budding romance. In the end, it turns out my character might not be exactly what Abed was hoping for.
The Katie Leclerc Fan Gallery is updated with all the caps from the last two episodes.
Actress Katie Leclerc will chat live during the East Coast feed of “Switched at Birth,” airing on Monday, January 13, 8:00PM – 9:00PM ET/5:00PM – 6:00PM PT. Fans should tweet to Katie at @katieleclerc to ask their questions and should include the hashtag #SwitchedAtBirthChat in their tweets. In the third season of ABC Family’s Peabody Award-winning drama series, “Switched at Birth,” senior year means big changes for Bay and Daphne, as the Carlton School for the Deaf receives an influx of hearing students who are not happy to be there. Daphne begins working at a free clinic as part of her probation from the Senator Coto blackmail scandal, and bonds with a pre-med student (guest star RJ Mitte, “Breaking Bad”) with a spinal injury. Bay is inspired by her art teacher (guest star Sandra Bernhard, “Roseanne”) and surprised by her jock classmate (guest star Max Adler, “Glee”), when she takes an art class at a local college. Toby tries to unite a divided Carlton by coaching girls’ field hockey, and Kathryn dips her toes into new territory when she makes friends with a gregarious tap dancer (guest star Alec Mapa, “Ugly Betty”).

Switched at Birth (ABC Family)
Premieres: Monday, Jan. 13 at 8/7c
Where We Left Off: Nikki and Toby, despite their family’s plea to call of the wedding, got hitched at City Hall. Bay, meanwhile, was lead to believe that Ty cheated on her so that she would get over him while he’s deployed and Angelo gave his baby back to the parents who originally adopted her.
What’s Next: Will Bay and Emmett finally get back together? Seems like it based on their kiss in the promo. After Daphne gets in major trouble for last season’s blackmail (and perhaps spends some time in juvie), she goes to work at a free clinic where she meets a paralyzed pre-med student played by Breaking Bad’s R.J. Mitte.
“The highlight of 2013 has to be getting engaged. I’m so lucky in love,” Leclerc, 27, says of fiancé Brian Habecost. “That and buying a house. Look at me getting all domesticated. I am growing up!”
On the small screen, she’s still a kid, playing deaf teenager Daphne Vasquez.
“It’s the most challenging and rewarding role I’ve ever had,” says the actress, who isn’t deaf but has intermittent hearing loss brought on by Ménière’sdisease, an inner ear disorder. “We have great support” from the deaf community, she says of Switched. “It resonates with them.”
A few more fun facts about Leclerc:
She’d still consider her mom “mom” if she were switched at birth. That said, “if Steven Spielberg was my dad for a day, I don’t think it would be so bad, especially if he could talk to some of his Hollywood friends.”
She was born in San Antonio. “My favorite thing to do in San Antonio is eat Chinese food. My parents have always owned restaurants, they have a Chinese restaurant (there) now called Fire Wok.”
She’d like a career like Kristen Bell’s. “She started off in television and made her way into movies and is kind of everywhere now.”
